Have you ever noticed your resolutions for this year are almost the same as the year before? Resolutions tend to be created in January and discarded in February. To avoid this endless cycle, Liquid Energy is here to provide a few helpful tips to succeed in keeping your resolutions this year.
Create a plan, devise goals, and make deadlines- Brainstorm a plan and then divide your goals into manageable pieces. For example, if you want to lose weight through exercise your goal could be run twice a week. Then, you need to give yourself time to run so you must modify your goal to be specific to run on Monday at 5 o’clock and Thursday at 8 o’clock. After you build this habit and accomplish this small goal, give yourself bigger goals; run 3 times per week or increase your distance.
Record and review your progress- Ideally, you should record what you did everyday but this is not always feasible. I would try to make some sort of entry at least a few times a week to create the habit. Your entries do not need to be long, but record any aha moments or changes you may have made or seen.
Reflect on your accomplishments at various milestones- We at Liquid Energy suggest breaking it up by each month. During this time, reflect on where you are in relation to your timeline and modify unrealistic goals. Additionally, review your notes. See if there was something that worked really well that you can incorporate into your future plans. Reward yourself for meeting and exceeding goals! Celebrate!
